TJ ATOMS [INTERVIEW]: PHiLLY ROOTS, METHOD ACTING AND NEW SiNGLE ‘BLUE BEAM’ OUT NOW!

Interview exclusively with Viper Magazine

From his gritty Philly upbringing and Wu-Tang legacy to his own raw, experimental sound, the actor and musician breaks down his therapeutic new musical era. TJ Atoms sat down with Viper Magazine to discuss his Philadelphia roots, breaking out of his environment, the discipline  of method acting, and creating experimental, therapeutic music with his new single ‘Blue Beam’.

There is an unapologetic, restless energy to TJ Atoms. Born and bred in the authentic, grimey landscape of Philadelphia, the actor and musician has spent his life shifting shapes and jumping off expected courses. From early days on a skateboard, in a band called Big Life, to channelling Hip Hop royalty on screen, Atoms has always operated on gut instinct.

“I just wanted to get out of my environment and become more,” he reflects. “Philly made me who I am.”

That drive pushed him into acting, where he learned the rigorous discipline of method acting—breathing, sleeping, and entirely becoming a character. But music remains his ultimate ground zero, a therapeutic space to let out rage and escape reality.

With his latest single ‘Blue Beam’, Atoms is stepping away from traditional formats into what he describes as “manic music”—an experimental, expressive lane that is completely his own. “When I make music, I want to feel something,” he says. “It’s deeper than just talking about or just rhyming words.”

Whether he is designing his own outfits from scratch or crafting sounds unlike anything else in the rap landscape, TJ Atoms is refusing to follow the crowd. “I believe this is creativity and I’m creative. If people don’t get it, it’s whatever.”

In Brooklyn NY, I linked up with actor and musician TJ Atoms for @vipermagazine to talk about his Philly roots, the discipline of method acting, and breaking away from the standard formula with his new music. From custom-designing his own fits to unleashing therapeutic rage in the booth, he’s doing things entirely on his own terms.
