There are album launches, and then there are moments that remind you why live music still matters. On Sunday evening, London’s historic Theatre Royal Drury Lane became the setting for one of the most intimate performances of the year as Asake took to the stage for a one-night-only celebration of his latest album, M$NEY. Curated by Spotify in partnership with VAMP, the black-tie affair welcomed a carefully selected guest list of friends, family, industry names and some of Asake’s biggest Spotify listeners for an exclusive first look at the album in its live form.

Having released M$NEY in May, this marked the first time fans had the opportunity to experience the project performed live. Rather than relying on spectacle alone, the evening focused on the music itself. Backed by a full live orchestra, Asake reimagined tracks from the album, giving them a richness that elevated every arrangement. Familiar records carried new emotion, while the orchestral accompaniment added depth without ever overshadowing the energy that defines his sound.

The performance also gave guests something completely unexpected, with Asake debuting four unreleased tracks that hinted at what’s still to come. It was a reminder that even at a stage in his career where global success is expected, he’s still finding new ways to keep audiences engaged.

The choice of Theatre Royal Drury Lane couldn’t have been more fitting. One of London’s most iconic venues, its grand interiors and timeless character complemented the elegance of the evening, while the black-tie dress code created an atmosphere that felt considered rather than excessive. Every detail reflected the intention behind the event, from the venue to the production and the carefully curated guest list.

Throughout the night, Asake commanded the stage with the same effortless confidence that has made him one of Afrobeats’ defining artists. Dressed in a sharp, tailored look that reflected the evening’s black-tie dress code while staying true to his distinctive sense of style, he carried himself with quiet confidence from the moment he stepped on stage. The live orchestra gave his vocals and songwriting room to breathe, offering a fresh perspective on M$NEY and allowing each performance to feel both intimate and grand.

While the performance was an intimate, invite-only affair, fans will soon be able to experience the evening for themselves. The entire concert was professionally filmed and is set to premiere on Spotify in the coming days, bringing Asake’s one-night-only orchestral performance of M$NEY to audiences around the world.

M$NEY is out now on all streaming platforms.
